Lúnasa October 2023 Newsletter



Hello all! After a period of relative calm, there's lots about to happen in the Lúnasa world, including a tour and live album in Japan, recording with Daniel Hope, US Tours in Decemberad and March and Cillian is about to release a new cd!



We've just all returned from a great weekend of rehearsing and recording in Co.Meath and Dublin. The rehearsing was of course for our upcoming "Live in Japan" cd! We spent 4 days at the historic Rockfield House mansion in Kells, Co.Meath, a perfect place for interrupted music and inspiration. We have all the tunes picked out and arranged now and are looking forward to performing and recording them in Japan. While in Kells, we had a visit from world renowned classical violinist Daniel Hope, and we subsequently headed to the legendary Windmill Lane Studios Dublin - site of epic Rolling Stones/U2/Bothy Band/Planxty albums - and put down a few sets for Daniel's next album, which will be a mixture of traditional, baroque and classical music.

“Live in Japan” is followed by our US Christmas tour with the great singer and guitarist Dave Curley from Galway. We will soon list all of our March touring dates but quite a few are already on sale so we've listed those below. Please check our website as we add gigs and our Bandsintown page is a site that sends alerts when we're in your area.

In other news, our piper Cillian is about to release a new cd along with Co.Mayo fiddler David Doocey, member of the band Grada and featuring his brother Patrick who will be on the Lunasa Christmas tour. The cd will be released on November 1at our one of favourite venues, The Burren in Boston but pre-orders are available at Cillian's website and starting Oct 29 in Alexandria, VA, they are doing a number of US gigs in support of it.
